Your Data Rights
Under UK data protection law you have rights over the information we hold about you and your child. This page explains what those rights are, how to use them, and what we will do. Using your rights is always free and we will never treat you differently for asking.
Your rights
- Access — ask for a copy of the information we hold about you (a subject access request).
- Correction — ask us to fix anything inaccurate or incomplete.
- Erasure — ask us to delete your information, where we do not have to keep it.
- Restriction — ask us to pause using your information while something is checked.
- Objection — object to us using your information where we rely on legitimate interests.
- Portability — receive information you gave us in a reusable electronic format.
- Withdraw consent — including consent to hold SEND, disability or health information, and consent to marketing or non-essential cookies.
How to make a request
The easiest way is the data request form on our Contact page. You can also email Jessica@SimplifiedSupport.co.uk or write to us at The Hand Stadium, Davis Lane, Clevedon, BS21 6TG. You do not have to use any particular wording or mention the law.
Requests about a child
The rights belong to the person the information is about. A parent or carer can usually make a request on behalf of a younger child. Where a child is old enough to understand their own rights, we may need their agreement, or we may respond to them directly.
How we handle your request
- We acknowledge your request, normally within 5 working days.
- We may ask you to confirm your identity, so that we do not release information about your family to the wrong person. The clock starts once we have what we need.
- We locate the information, check whether any exemptions apply, and remove information about other people where we are not allowed to disclose it.
- We respond within one month. If your request is complex or you have made several, we may extend this by up to two further months, and we will tell you why within the first month.
When we may not be able to do what you ask
Some rights are not absolute. For example, we must keep payment records for six years for tax purposes, so we cannot always delete everything. If we cannot meet your request in full, we will explain why and tell you what you can do next.
If you are unhappy with our response
Please tell us first through our complaints process so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. Our ICO registration reference is ZC024691.
